Missing our furkids...

Owen & I are on a business trip & had to leave the furkids behind. We left the 4 cats with our precious cat sitter, Danielle. We left our Gracie with the owners of our local pet store, one of whom just happens to be a dog trainer! What a perfect place for a young puppy to be left & they have dogs to help her become socialized. We are so blessed to have friends that can help us when we need someone to take care of our most precious furry loved ones.
We are returning tomorrow so I will post more about how things went with our cat sitter & the Pet Store family that gave Gracie a home for a couple of days!

Day 18 with Gracie

Gracie is almost 12 weeks old, Thursday is the big day. With each passing day, either she is getting better or we are learning her naughty puppy ways!
She was potty trained within the first day, only two "accidents". She began sleeping through the night on day 4 & now has quite a few "tricks" under her collar. I have taught her to sit (easy one), "Leave It" means STOP chasing the cats! And now I have taught her to lift her paw up to say please for her meals. It is beautiful to see how easily she has picked these tricks up & is still a puppy. Imagine how easily she will learn when she is no longer a running, jumping, hyper furball!!
As I have mentioned before, I am a die-hard cat lover, never been a fan of dogs as they are so much needier than cats.
Owen & I travel a lot for our business & it is so much easier to have someone watch our cats while we re gone than a dog. We have decided to take her with us on our travels once she is not a puppy any longer & she has been through the obedience training.

I am really looking forward to the day that our cats can live alongside Gracie......hopefully that day will come soon. I need some pointers!

It's a girl......puppy!

We have adopted an 8 week old puppy, her name is Gracie! (Actually, Gracie Lu - from the Miss Congeniality movie!) It has been an interesting 2 weeks......especially coming from a very loyal cat person. She has learned so much in the past two weeks, but so have we!
Our 4 cats are not amused......AT ALL!! They are no longer in the retreat stage, they are now in the hiss, growl & strike stage. I prefer this stage better, because the only way a puppy will learn how to treat a cat is by experience.....if you know what I mean!!
We will be bringing her to obedience training soon, which will help a lot with her early training.
She really has been a sweet puppy so far & can only get better with age. We are training her with the Cesar Milan/The Dog Whisperer way. I love the way he is with dogs!
So, I will continue to post now that I have decided to actually continue with a blog....please follow this journey with us!
